Did you know our Flagship store donates 10% of its jewelry sales on the first Friday of every month? It has become coined around Headquarters as “First Friday.” For the month of January, we’ve chosen The Wellness Shack as our First Friday recipient, an organization that is a consumer-run, non-profit organization for adults in mental health recovery. The Wellness Shack sent over a speaker, Bob, to talk with our staff and share more about what they provide. He explained, “When I first came to The Wellness Shack I told people that I suffered from chronic depression and anxiety. Now I tell people I manage chronic depression and anxiety.” These words left the Hello Adorn staff feeling inspired and empowered. We also learned that The Wellness Shack is particularly unique in the services they provide– there is a major emphasis on proactive self care planning, education on coping skills, and self advocacy. This shows how The Wellness Shack teaches people to care for themselves in a resourceful and proactive manner!
Centered on finding hope, The Wellness Shack hosts free group sessions and offers a variety of services to those who are seeking support within mental health struggles. Hello Adorn makers, Britlyn and Amanda, volunteered their time to hop over to The Wellness Shack in order to provide a jewelry making workshop. Arriving equipped with tools and chains for participants to use, their workshop was included as one of the Wellness Shack’s art therapy sessions that are provided weekly. Participants all made gifts for people in their lives, but mainly used the time to get to know one another and connect on a deeper level. After the event Britlyn shared, “it was less about the jewelry and more about each other.”
If you or a loved one is struggling with mental illness and is in need of support, The Wellness Shack is a place to land that will provide aid outside of the HealthCare System. The Wellness Shack is also always accepting new volunteers for their support groups as well as other weekly events held.
